Each year, in conjunction with Artists in Eden, well known artists discuss their work in a series of evening talks. These are held locally and have proved to be immensely popular. The series attracts those wanting to learn more about their favourite artists, students with notepads to the ready and those simply wishing to familiarise themselves a little more with New Zealand contemporary art. Eden Artspeak has been running for over 20 years.
The theme for Eden Artspeak this year is The Power of Art to Inspire.
The dates are 28 February, 7 March, 14 March.
This year we will once again hit the road in Week 2 as we visit a local home with many art stories to tell. In Weeks 1 and 3 we follow our traditional format of hosting lecture-style talks at the University of Auckland Epsom Campus lecture theatres under the expert guidance of Sue Gardiner.
Week 1 Art in the Community - panel discussion with some of the "originals" from Artists in Eden Day
Week 2 Art in the Home - with acclaimed author Peter Simpson
Week 3 Art in the A-Changin' Times - with Prof Peter O'Connor on Bob Dylan's impact on popular culture
These talks build up to our flagship event, Artists in Eden Day on Saturday 18 March.
